Lessons on saxophone, banjo, guitar and more in Seattle.
There is a different kind of magic that occurs when a student has a teacher's undivided attention to celebrate their achievements as well as guide their musical growth. I hope to have the opportunity to share this experience with your family by scheduling consistent weekly lessons in my studio or in your home. I've taught theory and general music classes to a wide variety of ages, rehearsed all kinds of ensembles from 100+ member marching bands to middle school rock bands, and taught thousands of private lessons over the years.
My primary instrument as a Music Education student at University of Washington was saxophone, and I also have over a decade of performance and teaching experience on fretted strings. Having studied wind instruments extensively I'm comfortable teaching trumpet, flute, and clarinet to beginning students. As an active songwriter/composer, I offer lessons in music theory/composition, songwriting, and beginning piano too.
My wife and I live in the Central District of Seattle and my studio is set up out of our house. I also give plenty of lessons in my students' homes. To schedule lessons, contact me by clicking the envelope icon in the upper right.
A word from clients...
"Kevin taught my daughter’s music class last year at Hamlin Robinson and now she is taking private guitar lessons with him. Kevin’s enthusiasm and ability to inspire the kids is incredible. My daughter went from having little or no interest in music to singing, playing guitar and writing music and lyrics by the end of the last school year. Kevin took one of the songs my daughter had written and got the class involved with putting it to music. Kevin ended up making a music video featuring the whole class. Since starting the guitar less than a year ago, my daughter is able to figure out how to play just about anything she wants and she practices without any prompting. I attribute all of this to Kevin’s talent as a teacher and musician and can’t recommend him highly enough."
